Dr. Jodi uses a broad range of techniques and therapies to locate and correct vertebral misalignments (subluxations) in the spine and extremities.  These procedures include Manual adjustments, instrument adjusting, heat or ice, intersegmental traction, electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, and/or Aspen Laser treatment.

 

Dr. Jodi primarily uses the classic manual spinal manipulation method to find and correct subluxations of the spine and extremities by applying a specific high velocity low amplitude force to the restricted joints with the goal of restoring normal range of motion in the joint.  When a gentler technique is required she Dr. Jodi utilizes instrument adjusting as an alternative.  Instrument adjusting uses an activator adjusting tool to deliver a specific pre measured force with the goal of restoring motion to the joint.

 

In addition to manipulation, Dr. Jodi employs adjunctive therapies such as ice, heat, electric muscle stimulation, ultrasound, and Laser treatment as part of an overall treatment plan.

 

Electric Muscle Stimulation (EMS) is a chiropractic therapy typically applied to a patient who has a lot of pain or spasm in the area of injury or complaint.  When EMS is applied, mild electrical current causes fast contractions to the muscles.  EMS gives the patient a tingling sensation, that for the most part, is very soothing.  The contractions of the therapy help to fatigue the muscle and allow it to relax.

 

Ultrasound therapy with chiropractic treatment is used to minimize muscle pain and restore proper joint function.  Therapeutic ultrasound uses sound waves to deliver deep heat to the treated tissues.  The treatment may help reduce stiffness, swelling and pain, increase circulation and promote pain free movement.

 

New to our clinic is the addition of Aspen Laser treatment.  This class IV laser therapy promotes increased circulation, metabolic activity, muscle relaxation, immune stimulation, nerve regeneration, improved vascular activity, and increased wound healing.
